Another Adam Sandler project, not-so-creatively titled Grown Ups is the story about a handful of high school friends who get together 30 years after graduation to attend their basketball coaches funeral. During the sad occasion, they decide to take a trip together on July 4th weekend in order to catch up and reminisce about the past. Well okay then.
Yes, I do see bad things happening with this film. First the story sounds so familiar (Hot Tub Time Machine, Couple’s Retreat) and for some reason, although the cast is Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Kevin James (all 5 actually worked together on Saturday Night Live), the story is a stale one.
Please don’t get me wrong, I think Sandler and James are adorable and in their own way are pretty funny, but Grown Ups isn’t. So with that said, I wish them the best for opening weekend which is June 25, 2010.
