Sofia Coppola’s new film, Somewhere is due out this year and apparently the buzz is that it is a highly anticipated film for 2010. If you recall, her last film was in 2006 (Marie Antoinette), which I didn’t care for much.
The new film is about an A-list actor (Stephen Dorff) residing at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, who abuses everyone around him (surprised anyone?) and dabbles in controlled substances (surprised anyone?) until he meets his 11 year old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) and knows he has to make changes.
Although the film Somewhere is “highly anticipated” I think this film should have been made for television instead of the silver screen. The story, very typical, is really not that interesting anymore. We can hear or see this sort of topic everyday on all celebrity online sites and entertainment news shows. But who knows, maybe Copolla has a few surprises up her sleeve.
