Chalk this up to creativity I suppose or lack there of. There is news that both Universal Studios and Relativity Media is in the running to make movies based around SNOW WHITE. While Universal’s version is based on a huntsman who is hired by the evil queen to track down her runaway stepdaughter and after realizing he is to kill Snow White, he begins to help her escape rather than capture her. This version is simply titled SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. (Yawn)
The second film (not yet titled) is based on the evil stepmother kills Snow White’s father and destroys the kingdom so Snow White hired 7 dwarfs to help her reclaim what is rightfully hers.
Although neither film has yet a confirmed cast, there are talks of Johnny Depp, Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie for Snow White and the Huntsman. As for the untitled project, Tarsem Singh (Immortals) has signed on to direct movie 2.
Since both films will begin production early next year, I am not sure which version will be released first. Either way, unless the level of creativity is above average with a solid cast attached to it, I cannot see either film interesting enough to develop a true fan based.
