Tribeca Film Festival – Higher Ground – Movie Pick

Every year, I check the list of films scheduled to be shown at various film festivals and make my projections of what to keep a lookout for, just in case you cannot make it to a festival for a screening or showing.

For the Tribeca Film Festival this year, I came across  Higher Ground, a film directed by and stars
Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air), which I think is worth checking out.

The story is set in the 1960s, during the height of feminism. It’s based around a  tight-knit spiritual community, who I am sure does not  appreciate, even the idea of feminism coming into play in their community, much less any married woman contemplating participating in the evolution of womankind. I do believe based on the challenges faced by Farmiga’s character, it would be truly shocking if she isn’t able to deliver a strong performance.  So, the buzz is good and if you happen to be in New York during the Film Festival, by all means consider the film and let us know what you thought?
