Oscars 2009

I was actually pleased with the Oscars show on ABC this year. It was short, sweet and to the point. I enjoyed Hugh Jackman as the host, it was refreshing to see someone not so arrogant on stage while hosting the Oscars. I think the most impressive thing of all for this year’s Oscars was that Slumdog Millionaire won 8 awards and Anne Hathaway was in the running with Meryl Streep for the Best Actress category. I had always hoped Hathaway would win as her performance out weighed Kate Winslet’s predictable performance in her role for The Reader. I was pleased however that finally Sean Penn, who I was routing for from the beginning, won Best Actor award for MILK. The only disappointing performance during the Oscars was the “mix” for the Best Original Song, between John Legend (performing a song from Wall-E) and A.R. Rahman (performing a song from Slumdog Millionaire) – That was a disaster. Overal a great show
and that is all I am going to say about the Oscars.
