Amanda Seyfried, (Mama Mia) ,Vanessa Redgrave, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Franco Nero have signed on to star in the movie adaptation of Letters to Juliet, a book by Lise and Ceil Friedman.
The book talks about the multitude of people who write letters to Juliet in care of the city of Verona, Italy. This story in particular will follow a young couple (Seyfriend and Garcia Bernal) who while in Italy, get one of these letters by mistake. The letter, written by Redgrave’s character, recounts her memories of being romanced during a trip to the country long ago, inspires Seyfried to go to Tuscany (while in Italy) to find the woman’s lost love (Nero).
The project was adapted by Jose Rivera (Motorcycle Diaries) and Tim Sullivan. It will be directed by Gary Winick (13 Going on 30, Charlotte’s Web, and Bride Wars). Filming will begin June 25th in Italy.
I like very much. I am actually happy to see something creative once again. Hopefully the screenplay will live up to my expectation. Stay tuned.
