If you happen to be a Disney fan like I am, I recommend you see the movie Waking Sleeping Beauty, which opens today Friday March 26,2010.
The title may be misleading but once you see the trailer you can understand the reason behind, Disney Productions choice. This is a story about a period (1984) in Disney Production’s reign where they lost their creativity and were unable to successfully produce quality animation films, hence jeopardizing the future of the company.
It’s a behind the scenes look, where director Don Hahn and producer Peter Schneider show us how the company’s decision to become more innovative and change direction played a key role in their success the following decade. Within the film there are interviews with Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy Disney, alongside an amazing array of talented artists that includes Don Bluth, John Lasseter, and Tim Burton, which explain the transition as it were happening.
I think this movie is not just about the film industry but a look at most any company in dire need of transition in order to remain successful and in demand. I highly recommend it to anyone who is able to see the film in their neighborhoods. Once more the film is on limited release.
Let me know what you think?
