It’s funny with some films I don’t necessarily wonder how some of the other characters came to be, until of course Hollywood decides to address the unknown.
But I am glad to report this particular bit of news because, after the announcement, I was actually impressed with how the story will pan out.
As we all know (well at least some of us) about the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland. Well, fast forward to 2013 (literally) and we have a film about The OZ and how he came to be.
The Oz: the Great and Powerful is the name of the film and it is the story of a circus wrangler (James Franco) who is transported to the mysterious world of Oz by a tornado. Upon his arrival he is mistaken for a know-it-all and is dubbed the OZ. Meanwhile somewhere far or near a few disgruntled and finally estranged witches become the wicked witch of the West (Mila Kunis) and the wicket witch of the East (Rachel Weisz). While one good witch becomes the Witch of the North (Michelle Williams).
Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) will helm the project and shooting will begin in July for a 2013 release. WOW, that is so far away, anyway stay tuned because I think this is going to be an interesting one.
