I got a chance to see Captain America on my flight to Europe and I didn’t think I was going to be okay with it as much as I did. But I was. I suppose the saving grace was the fact, the film was set in the past and everything cheesy made sense. But at the end of the film, they showed a commercial for C.A. 2 and apparently it will take place in modern day America.
I suppose the news and the final decision, which was finally confirmed by writer Stephen McFeely just recently, to focus on the modern world and Captain America being infused in it, makes sense from a writer’s point of view. After all in this case, it’s the only way to keep the film interesting and fresh for the skeptical audience. However, is a super hero from the past acceptable in today’s world? Is he believable and can he do anything to save the day?
I am curious to see how McFeely will make the transition, but I am also curious to see if the audience is willing to wait until 2014.
