The other night I decided to take a gander at watching Happy Go Lucky. Although the movie kept me somewhat entertained, I just could not figure out the purpose of the whole thing. It was a bit annoying as well to watch a person go through life happy and optimistic all the time or so it seemed, until she got behind closed doors and then you could not figure out if she was sad or simply pondering over the events of her day. Sally Hawkins did a tremendous job playing the role of Poppy, the cheery schoolteacher from London, but the most interesting and annoying character who stood out for me was the Driving School instructor, Eddie Marsan. The movie is written and directed by Mike Leigh, who’s attempt at documenting realities of everyday life in London and how one handles it was simply boring and had no significant point.
