Oh please tell me it isn’t so. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in a movie together. How, why and for what reason – have we lost all creativity in Hollywood?

I understand Cruise was pretty funny and amazing in the movie TropicThunder, I must admit I actually enjoyed his role as a s.o.b. movie producer. I also enjoy Diaz’s work but I don’t know how putting him with her will work? I cannot imagine this would be a worthy investment for any production company.
In addition to the bad choice in pairing up actors, James Mangold, who is set to direct the movie, hasn’t made a comedy since Kate and Leopold with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman in 2001, which in my opinion was a sleeper and lacked “comedy.” Nonetheless the project for 20th Century Fox is scheduled for release in 2010.
I think its safe for me to say that most of us are holding our breaths on this one until the final negotiations are taken place and hopefully Cruise decides he doesn’t want any part in the movie, heck I will even root for Jack Black to replace him. Anyway, stay tuned I will provide more info as it becomes available.
