The Academy Awards Fashion Wrap Up

Having fashion sense is part of being a good actor and of course the critics expect to be able to comment and review a star in all aspects of their lives, so as you watch stars walk the Red Carpet, you can almost sense their tension because they are on display and of course the pressure of walking away knowing their appearance was approved and not overlooked. I can tell you I hate to be in their place for that alone.

Anyway, I prefer to focus on an actor’s performance rather than what they wore, or who they dated or divorced but since fashion is an important part of the entertainment industry, I have included my two cents worth below as well but only of the nominees and winners and a few fashion icons and their choice of gowns:

Kathryn Bigelow – Very Ellegant and Stunny (designer unknown)

Helen Miren – Classy Elegance (Badgley Mishka)

Kate Winslet – sophisticated beautiful (Yves Saint Laurent)
Zoe Saldana – Missed it Again (Givenchy)

Verga Farmiga – Too old and Too Much, didn’t compliment her beauty (Marchesa)

Sandra Bullock – Almost ravishing minus the lipstick (Marchesa)
Sarah Jessica Parker – Too Romanesque and sloppy (Chanel)
Penelope Cruz – Beautiful Color but too many folds and flaps (Donna Karan)
Meryl Streep – Not The Best Choice (Chris March)

Jennifer Lopez – Classic fashion frazzled hair (Giorgio Armani)

Elizabeth Banks – Simply Elegant and very safe (Versace)

Diane Krugger – Not a fan of her choice – (Chanel Haut Cuture)
Carey Mulligan – Looked cute as a button literally (Prada)

Anna Kendrick – Dressed safely in an age appropriate gown(Elie Saab Haute Cuture)
