If this news brings Gerard Butler to the Bay Area, I am all for it, but visualizing him to play a “mentor” for the late surfer Jay Moriarty is a bit hard to digest. I guess I better stop being so hard on the talented actor but I sometimes can’t help express my surprise at the roles some of these individuals are cast for.
I mean the original choice was Sean Penn, who I can totally see for the role of Rick “Frosty” Hesson, and of course I am not sure why he pulled out (perhaps scheduling conflict -my favorite reason) but Butler, I have trouble accepting him as the choice. Nonetheless I don’t see a big audience for the film, so perhaps it may not really matter who plays what. Sorry Butler, I still love ya 🙂
Anyway, stay tuned as more information becomes available. In the meantime I will keep my eyes open for Gerry sitings in my neck of the woods.
