Hanna – Movie Pick – Opening April 8, 2011 For A Limited Engagement

I actually thought long and hard about this film, but I just couldn’t resist recommending it this week. There is a mixture of good and not so good buzz about the film and since it seems pretty controversial, I have no choice but to see it for myself to make a fair assessment.

The story is about a young girl, named Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) , who is the daughter of an ex-CIA agent (Eric Bana) gone rogue  in Finland.  Her entire upbringing she is trained by her father to become the perfect Assassin. When her father feels she is good and ready with her training, he sends her into civilization on a mission, only to have her be pursued by a ruthless member of the CiA (Cate Blanchett).

The concern, of course is, teaching a young child to become an assassin, that is something not very well looked upon in the U.S., so I am almost certain the film won’t do so well here, especially since it’s on a limited engagement basis. However, if the film is released globally, it will most certainly do better.

The film is pretty intense and not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 and in my opinion, not for anyone under the age 21. Anyway, please take caution.
